 A WORD TO THE WISE

Surely the Lord GOD does nothing,

Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

 A lion has roared!

Who will not fear?

The Lord GOD has spoken!

Who can but prophesy?

Amos 3:7-8 NKJV

Surly the Lion has roared but the voices of men have brought confusion.  So what is the Lord speaking in these” Last Days”.  The Prophet Daniel knew the voice of his God.  The three Hebrew boys knew the God of Daniel, and all four were able to maintain their relationship of obedience with God and overcome in a foreign pagan land.

Exodus 24:7B says;

"All that the LORD has said we will do, and be obedient."  The accurate translation of this verse says, “we shall obey THEN we shall hear.  How can we obey that which we don’t hear?  The answer lies in the example of the Prophet Daniel.  His obedience stemmed from his spirit, which was in unity with God, and not just from a “now word”.  As he walked in that humble and obedient attitude he received all that was needed from the Lord and became wise.   Daniel 5:12 declares

that Daniel had an excellent or extraordinary spirit because he had wisdom and understanding.  He was called a wise man by kings and his council was heard.  In this hour we surely need the wisdom that Daniel operated in, wisdom from Heaven that is available to us through understanding.   So you ask “how do we get this wisdom?” That’s the problem we don’t just GET IT, we grow in it, which takes time and effort.  Even Jesus grew in wisdom and stature.  I will share with you a little equation the Lord gave  me: “Between knowledge and wisdom we need understanding”.

Our pattern is Proverbs 3:19-26

The LORD by wisdom founded the earth;

By understanding He established the heavens;

 By His knowledge the depths were broken up,

And clouds drop down the dew.

 My son, let them not depart from your eyes-

Keep sound wisdom and discretion;

 So they will be life to your soul

And grace to your neck.

 Then you will walk safely in your way,

And your foot will not stumble.

 When you lie down, you will not be afraid;

Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.

 Do not be afraid of sudden terror,

Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes;

 For the LORD will be your confidence,

And will keep your foot from being caught.

Our mandate is Proverbs 2:1-12

My son, if you receive my words,

And treasure my commands within you,

 So that you incline your ear to wisdom,

And apply your heart to understanding;

 Yes, if you cry out for discernment,

And lift up your voice for understanding,

 If you seek her as silver,

And search for her as for hidden treasures;

 Then you will understand the fear of the LORD,

And find the knowledge of God.

 For the LORD gives wisdom;

From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;

 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;

He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;

 He guards the paths of justice,

And preserves the way of His saints.

 Then you will understand righteousness and justice,

Equity and every good path.

 When wisdom enters your heart,

And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,

 Discretion will preserve you;

Understanding will keep you,

To deliver you from the way of evil,

From the man who speaks perverse things,

We are responsible to see that our knowledge is correct, study to show thyself approved, a workman that won’t be ashamed.   Jesus explained this in the Parable of the Sower.

Matt 13:18-19, 23

 "Therefore hear the parable of the sower:  When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.

23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

God speaks to us through His word or by His Spirit.  His word imparts knowledge.  We do not always understand what the Lord is saying or what to do with it.  When we wait upon the Lord and study and meditate on that word, as Daniel did, we will recieve the understanding of  how to proceed, which is Wisdom.  When understanding explodes in us it lights up the concepts of God’s word and it changes the way we perceive it and even how we perceive God himself.  It changes what we do and say and it will eventually produce wisdom in us which will help us discern between God’s will and mans voice in this very verbal hour.  A final word to the wise:

Proverbs 1:7

 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,

But fools despise wisdom and instruction
